After winning his bracket in the "Jeopardy!" Second Chance Season 39 competition, Providence's Matt Harvey was edged out of the Champions Wildcard tournament by just $101.

And this time, there were no Rhode Island questions.

Harvey, who works in administration at Integra Community Care Network, a division of Care New England Health System, first appeared on the game show in 2022, finishing as runner-up to Cris Pannullo, was on a 16-game run that ended up being a 21-day winning streak. Harvey then came back to the show in January for the Second Chance competition, in which he won group three.

鈥淚 don鈥檛 quite believe it actually happened,鈥 Harvey said in 鈥淚t鈥檚 a very strange feeling but it鈥檚 wonderful. I鈥檓 so excited.鈥

His time on "Jeopardy!" was marked by a weird coincidence, creating what he called "Rhode Island clusters." Twice, another contestant from Rhode Island competed within a week of his appearance on the show, and Rhode Island-related questions came up with surprising frequency.

Need a break?

"I guess I bring clusters around. I'm a Rhode Island 'Jeopardy! cluster' creator," Harvey said in a previous interview.

What was the question that stumped him?

Harvey was in the lead heading into the Final Jeopardy! question.

The clue was: "A 1902 work says an enigmatic character has a half-English mom and a half-French dad, but this name of his is German for short."

Harvey guessed Shorty, which was a miss. The correct answer was Kurtz.

No one got the answer correct, but Harvey bet enough that the loss put him in second place. Deb Bilodeau advanced in the tournament.
